Discovering Madhya Pradesh - #MPlified

For Madhya Pradesh, I will like to start with one quote

"It is nice finding those places where you can go out and relax"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For a state suffering humongous population issues, being a traveler's den seems a distant dream. If you have been there, or you haven't, you should know one thing and that is Madhya Pradesh is no Himachal nor Rajasthan, it's a distinct land that has just started to taste money. The state doesn't offers anything like North India or South India, for wherever I went things are still simple and sublime as they were 20 years ago in Delhi or Faridabad. You still get to feel the old world air, the old Indian-faces with non branded clothes, travelling their way to work in autos, mini-buses but with their cellphones in hand. The best part about the state - Hindi. It's everywhere and I like it when I can speak Hindi. It's easier and it's Indian. That will sum it up.

Now, while writing this blog, I wonder whether I should reveal all or curb my desire to write and reveal only what's necessary, so I don't kill your interest as you may someday (whoever you are) read this blog and decide to explore one of the most unexplored state in India. Mind you, I am saying unexplored State, and it's a big state, so you have not one but so many pages to write as you discover city after city.

The residents have an emminent love for the river Narmada, that's the Ganga of Madhya Pradesh. I couldn't see much of the river but I strongly feel it is not disregarded and discarded as Ganga and Yamuna in North of India, which breaks my heart everytime. Narmada is still clean, and cared for.

Bhopal, especially North Bhopal is a promising and upcoming metropolitan city, with clean, green and fresh surroundings. Locals told me that development started almost 5-6 years ago. Otherwise, it's the Old Bhopal that they consider as Chandni Chowk of Bhopal, so expect overcrowded, jam packed city life with consistent honking and screaming people, breaking your head like in Delhi. One thing, the buildings in Old Bhopal are suitable to capture with your cameras, owing to their old world charm and historical resemblance. Remember Britishers, eh? You will definitely find that freedom to click photos without being bothered much.

Jabalpur, is a very important city, from the perspective of Indian Army. For me, it's a very interesting place, since it connects you with marvels such as two very deserving yet lesser known waterfalls in India - Dhuadhar waterfalls and Bagdhari waterfalls. Particularly Bagdhari, because once you cross village Patan, you have entered one of the most beautiful valleys in the country with an amazingly dangerous waterfall. Again, the love for river Narmada is quite apparent, with me happening to roam around the Ghats during Narmada Jayanti, and the ghats in Jabalpur are potential paradise(s) for the photographer, for if you are tired of Varanasi and flock of Photographers, here is your escape point.

Khajuraho is a treasure. Here, you will find foreigners, and bikers, and tourists, and travelers. Easily discoverable on cycle or by foot, this place is famous for the temples. Honestly, these temples are popular in India for their display of sexual figures and erotic positions, and that's where you get beaten. Believe me, it's a total misunderstanding of Khajuraho. Total. Mis. Understanding. Tired of temples, go explore the area around for photography, it is untouched.

So, if you think it's quite evident now that there is more to the story and feel a little excited, if not more, I will write about my trip to the state of Madhya Pradesh in 3 upcoming blog posts. You can track my posts with hashtag #MPlified on Google, though I am yet to design an opening poster for it. The posts will be full of information (basic ones) and interesting people that I met, including valuable contact numbers in case you need to contact these helpful people for city tours (I am doing this out of free will, these were really wonderful people)
